Some retailers in Europe and elsewhere do have the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 available to purchase, though customers are reporting having to wait for several weeks before delivery, and there’s no guarantee this won’t be delayed further. If stock does become available you’ll want to move quickly as they’re likely to be snapped up fast.
US customers are continuing to have to wait for stock availability, and can register to be notified on the ASUS website. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 release date was originally estimated to be March 2022 but it has been delayed. It’s possible that, given the relatively niche market for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16, the company has not prioritised it over more popular, mainstream ASUS gaming laptops when faced with a limited supply of chips to put into production. Still, the lack of stock is affecting all spec options of the machine in the US especially, so it would seem that the global silicon shortage is still making itself known, despite signs it’s been abating of late.

Some people have claimed that they’ve been offered a change in their order to the version with the less powerful Ryzen 9 6900HX/HS plus a $100 refund. Now excuse me, I need to figure out what I can sell so I can afford this beautiful machine. What’s the reason for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 delays?Īt the present time, concrete details are thin on the ground, so take any subsequent speculation with a grain of salt, but the latest rumours spreading across various tech subreddits is that part of the issue stems from a shortage of the hugely powerful AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX CPU.

We’ll have our full thoughts later in the year when we get one of these monsters in for review. Is it worth the money? It’s hard to say at the moment, but even if the second screen does get support from the majority of game developers, the Zephyrus Duo 15 is still going to be a rich-person’s toy. Considering the specs of the two machines, the Zephyrus Duo 15 looks like a bargain by comparison. The Alienware m15 (opens in new tab) that we reviewed earlier this year has some much cheaper configurations, but the top-end models in that line still cost north of $4000. That is a lot of money to spend on a laptop, but you're always going to sink a hefty chunk of cash for a gaming laptop. The base model with an i7 CPU and HD screen comes in at $2,999, will the most expensive variant with an i9 CPU and 4K screen is an eye-watering $3,699.
Oh, and our other concern is the price, which is high.
